Welcome

My name is Roy Sandbrook, and my business is solving problems for building owners. From specifying to installation, I can take the trouble out of firestopping, passive fire compliance, and many other retro-fit building operations, including interface with local authorities. With an extensive background in engineering and building restoration, including both specification and installation of passive fire systems, I can make the cogs of progress run smoothly.
I've been fortunate to have been involved with a range of interesting projects and people over the years, encompassing many disciplines. Through these I have gained a good understanding of the workings of firestopping, refrigeration, HVAC, compressed air production and reticulation, electrical control systems, mechanical engineering and building / construction. I regard site safety to be paramount during delivery of any service, and constantly endeavour to stay abreast of current developments in regulations and standards.

I see my greatest strengths as being able to work with building owners and project managers to conceive and execute unique solutions to difficult problems in a constantly changing building environment. Leading and motivating a team by example ensures both enjoyment of the work, and that the job gets done professionally and on time. Fortifier Ltd. has been established with the goal to deliver value for money services by minimizing overheads. Our clients can benefit from our ability to harness a flexible labour force which can be expanded or contracted to suit the size of the project.

Leading a team of workers is a fundamental strength of project management, and an aptitude I have also cultivated over many years. A happy team is a hard-working team, and matching the talent to the task helps to ensure the hard work furnishes both effective and efficient results. At the end of the day these two skills are the structure of a safe and productive workplace.

Passive fire protection is the primary focus of my business. Smoke travels incredibly fast though even a tiny hole, and kills more people than fire. Having fire cells properly sealed is critical to the safety of the building occupants. Compliance can be both a headache and an expensive minefield - you need a knowledgable and resourceful contractor to bring things up to spec without costing the earth.

Team Leader: Passive Firestopping

A substantial project involving leading a team in extensive specifying, custom engineering and installation of passive fire systems to ensure code compliance. Tasks involved an abundance of sub-projects, from establishing new fire cells and maintaining existing ones, to specialist enclosure of UPS and server rooms and beyond. The hospital was kept fully operational throughout, and a high standard of workmanship was required and achieved.

Remedial Firestopping to critical time schedule

With a critical deadline to work to, this project required discipline, efficiency, and smart processes to be completed on time. Working in a high-temperature ceiling environment during the height of summer also required very careful management of both health and safety processes and staff fatigue. The entire enterprise was completed successfully and on time.
